Marketing Public Health

While food companies spend billions of dollars every year to market snack food, the national “5 a Day” campaign to promote fruit and vegetable consumption runs on an annual budget of less than $7 million.

Fighting the food-ad juggernaut by drawing equal attention to public health issues will require more than a huge influx of money. It requires campaigns that are creatively designed and carefully measured to ensure they achieve the goals of improving the nutritional status of our community.
