Maia Hyary, MPA
Maia Hyary is a Research Associate at the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at Yale University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany and her Master’s of Public Administration in Health Policy from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Her yearlong Master’s thesis examined the impact of retail grocery development on obesity rates in low-income residential sections of Bronx, New York. Prior to joining the Rudd Center, she worked as a Research Assistant with NYU Medical Center’s Banishing Obesity and Diabetes in Youth Project, where she managed data collection for a longitudinal study on the impact of medical screenings on adolescent obesity rates in New York City.
Maia is interested in childhood obesity prevention and school wellness policies. At the Rudd Center, she works with the Director on a range of programs concerning obesity prevention, food policy, and school wellness.
